Still 'not logged in' on SpringerLink after logging in via Shibboleth or Athens

The "Not logged in" status at the footer of the page on SpringerLink relates to Personal accounts, i.e. directly logging in to your own account on SpringerLink. It does not relate to the status of your Institutional login via Shibboleth or Athens

There are two ways for you determine that your log in via Shibboleth or Athens was successful.

1. Check the footer of the page once you have signed in via Shibboleth/Athens

Before logging in via Shibboleth or Athens, the footer of your page should look similar to example 1.

Example 1Before logging in via Shibboleth or Athens:

After logging in with your credentials the footer of the page should look similar to Example 2 - it should show your institution's name and (account number).

Please note that “Not logged in” appears on both pages and does not relate to your login via Shibboleth or Athens. That message is for personal accounts only.

2. Try to access content subscribed by your institution

Once you have logged in you will have immediate access to the content your institution subscribes to. When you attempt to access content, you will notice the “Access is provided by” (your institution's name) near the top or near the middle of the chapter/article page. See example three below.

If you are still in doubt that your login has worked after performing the two steps above please contact your Electronic Resources Administrator or Librarian. Or, if you are a Librarian please email online service to raise this query with one of our agents.
